Vetspin is an independent Italian Contract Research Organization (CRO) providing scientific, analytical, and regulatory services to the animal health industry. Animal Facilities
Vetspin operates 2 animal facilities in the province of Ferrara, overal more than 1000 sqm. The facilities supports a wide range of controlled in vivo studies, ensuring optimal animal welfare standards under GLP and GCP.
Laboratories
Bioanalytics, diagnostic, parasitology and microbiological laboratories are located near Bologna and allow to integrate the in vivo and laboratory phases of the studies.
Validated Multiresidue LC-MS/MS Method for Coccidiostats
Vetspin has GLPaccredidation for LC-MS/MS analytical methods, for instance for the determination of anticoccidials, therapeutics and novel molecules in several matrices.
Bio-analytical capacity is available for client studies requiring accurate quantification and regulatory-compliant residue analysis.

We are able to select every tipology of farm animals.
Our main skills are related to the handling of animals, their accomodation, treatment and sampling of organs and body fluids.
Our animal facilities provide either individual or group housing.
All internal facilities comply with the European laws on the protection of animal used for scientific purpose (Recommendation 2007/526/CE; Directive 2010/63/EU).
Protocols are evaluated by the internal Animal Welfare Body before the application to the Italian Ministry of Health.

Bioanalytical Laboratory – Advanced platforms for residue, PK, and bioanalytical testing (HPLC and uPLC coupled to MS/MS, immunoassays)
The Bioanalytical Laboratory is specialized in development and validation of methods for the analysis of veterinary drugs in various biological matrices (plasma, muscle, liver, kidney, fat, fat + skin, milk, eggs, manure, intestinal content).
High standard quality of work, ability to provide timely and reliable results, flexibility, short communication lines and competitive prices.
Methods are developed and validated in accordance to both the client specific needs and internal SOP. All the methods are validated to meet current EMA guidelines and the analyses can be performed under GLP.
Italian authorities regularly inspect the laboratory that is also subjected to a rigorous auditing schedule to ensure continuous conformity with the quality system.
Diagnostic Laboratory – Clinical pathology and serology
Clinical Pathology Tests on all food producing species consucted by validated methods using certified reference materials (CRM), suitable for haemato-biochemical and electrolyte blood analysis.
Gross Examination and Sampling of tissues and organs, slide preparation and lecture by blind method.
Parasitology Laboratory – Field and experimental parasitology models
The Parasitology Laboratory performs diagnostic tests on coccidiosis (OPG), identification of oocysts species in chicken and turkey, intestinal lesion scoring on infected animals, purification of fecal samples and preparation of sporulated inocula.
Microbiology Laboratory
The Microbiology Laboratory performs cultures, isolation and identification of bacteria, as well as antibiograms and characterisation of the strains.

GLP
Vetspin is certified for the Good Laboratory Practice since 2006.
The studies performed under GLP are:
- Residue studies
- Pharmacokinetics/Toxicocinetic/ADME studies (also bioavailability and bioequivalence studies)

The Quality Assurance guarantees the maintenance of a quality program, consisting of study-, facility- and process-based audit which ensures the internal control of the GLP requirements; moreover a system of procedures allows managing all the critical and salient points for the performance of the studies and the management of the processes at the facility. The Quality Assurance has also the tasks of preparing the test facility to the biennial GLP regulatory authority inspection and of training personnel for GLP.
GCP
Vetspin is registered at Italian Ministry of Health as CRO for Good Clinical Practice since 2013.

There is a system of procedures to organize the various stages of the study and the processes of the facility. The Quality Assurance Unit performs audits to the study, both on documents and on the experimental phases. Quality control of data is part of the quality assurance and has the duty to verify the correctness of the data processing and the input of the data in the study.
